How to sell Indian rupees online

Just bring along your Indian rupees and ID and we’ll tell you how much your currency is worth in pounds.

You’ll just need to sign to say you’ve received your cash and that’s it – you can carry on with your shopping.

Where can I sell my unused Indian rupees?

You can sell unwanted Indian rupees in more than 90 M&S Travel Money bureaus nationwide. If you’re selling them online, you’ll pick which participating store to pop into as part of the checkout process.

What’s the best buy-back rate for INR?

Exchange rates for all currencies fluctuate over time, but you typically get more competitive rates by reserving online.

What is the minimum amount of Indian rupees I can sell back?

We may refuse to buy back any denomination of foreign currency notes that we don’t sell or that have a value of less than £1. Please take a look at our terms and conditions for full details.

What is the maximum amount of Indian rupees I can sell back?

You can sell back currency up to the value of £2,500 online using our Indian rupee buy-back service. To sell back more, you’ll need to visit us in a participating store. 

We can’t accept coins, damaged notes or notes with an individual value below £1. We also can’t accept some small denomination notes of certain currencies.

Can I exchange Indian rupee coins?

No, we don’t accept coins in any currency, including Indian rupees.

Do I need to have bought my Indian rupees from M&S to sell them back?

No – regardless of where you purchased your currency from, you can exchange it back via M&S Travel Money.

How do I exchange old Indian rupees?

We only accept current, valid and usable notes. Any forged notes, outdated, outmoded or unusable notes will not be exchanged and may be retained. We reserve the right to refuse to buy back any denomination of foreign currency notes that we do not sell or that have a value of less than £1. Please refer to our terms and conditions for full details.

Do I need ID to change Indian rupees to pounds?

Yes, you will need to bring ID to change Indian rupees to pounds. You can bring a passport, full/provisional UK or EU photo card driving licence, or a National ID card.

We can't accept any other forms of identification, and you will need to collect your pounds in person. We will need to see an original valid ID document, so bear in mind that we can’t accept pictures, photocopies, or ID that has expired.

When you collect your pounds, we’ll securely record information from your ID within our systems to ensure we’re compliant with our internal fraud controls.
