We’re always monitoring market exchange rates to bring you the latest sell-back rates on 50+ currencies, including euros, dollars, Turkish lira, Japanese yen and more.  

When you place an order to sell back currency, you’ll get that day’s exchange rate. We’ll hold your rate for four days and you can pop into a participating M&S bureau de change and sell back your currency when you do your regular shopping.

What currencies can I sell to M&S?

We buy back over 50 foreign currencies, as long as you’re exchanging notes. Bear in mind we don’t accept coins or some small denomination notes of some currencies. We only accept current, valid and usable notes. 

Any forged notes, outdated, outmoded or unusable notes will not be exchanged and may be retained. We reserve the right to refuse to buy back any denomination of foreign currency notes that we do not sell or that have a value of less than £1. What exchange rate will I get?

When you place a currency sell-back order online, you’ll get the current online sell-back rate (which you can keep for four days). Just choose your currency on our sell-back calculator, enter the amount you’d like to sell and it’ll show you what it’s worth in pounds. 

To keep up to speed with the foreign exchange market’s constant changes and ensure we’re giving you fair rates, we monitor and adjust against the market value of each currency.

Will I get Sparks Preferential Rates when I sell back?

Yes, Sparks members get preferential rates on currency sell-back. Just sign in to your Sparks account in the calculator and the Sparks Preferential Rate will be displayed.

What is the maximum amount of currency I can sell back?

The maximum amount of currency you can sell back in one order is £2,500 worth. To sell back more, you’ll need to visit us in a participating store.

Can I sell multiple currencies in one order?

Yes, you can sell multiple currencies to Marks & Spencer Travel Money. Just click ‘add another currency’ when placing your sell-back order, and make sure the total value is below £2,500 worth.  

When will I be paid for my travel money?

You’ll get your pounds in cash straight away when you visit us in a participating store to complete your transaction. 

Do I need to bring my ID to sell back currency?

When selling your leftover currency, please bring your confirmation email (displayed on your phone or tablet is acceptable) and one of the following forms of identification:

  • Passport
  • UK or EU photocard driving licence (full or provisional)
  • National ID card

You’ll need to collect your order in person, and the person collecting must be the same person named on the order. We’re unable to accept any other forms of ID and they’ll need to be the originals (not photos or photocopies). You can’t send someone to collect on your behalf, even if they have your ID.

What happens if I don’t collect my order?

We’ll hold your sell back rate for four days. If your pounds aren’t collected from the store you’ve selected within this time, we’ll cancel your sell-back order and you’ll need to place a new one.
